Mythbusters demonstrate how pressure differential can squeeze a Diver up his own surface air hose.
This is not for the faint-hearted!
The idea is to prove the alleged "myth" that failure of a non-return valve will result in the Diver being sucked up his own air hose. Shockingly True!
The Mysthbusters Team construct a man out of raw meat, and stick him in a Standard Dress Diver Suit, then drop him into the Ocean under great pressure.
Part one
shows the preparation, making the "meat man" and suiting him up.
Part Two
shows what happens when they simulate taking off the surface pressure that is holding him stabilised and preventing his body from being squished up the air hose by the surrounding water pressure. It is not pretty.
Thankfully I did my Diver Training long before this video was available.
